New JD students - buddy mentoring

Do you want to be paired up with a later-year student who can help give you tips and answer your questions?

Download the form for JD Buddy Mentoring, and we will try our best to find you a mentor.

Please drop your form into the LSS office or email it to lss-jd@unimelb.edu.au.

All law students are now required to fill in a consent form so that we can better identify you come election time. Please fill in the form and return it to our office on level 2. You can find the form here.

JD students – interested in mentoring?

A buddy mentoring program will be running from the start of semester 1, to help new JD students make the transition to the Law School. The program will be launched with a social drinks night, then mentors will be paired up with new students, to give them tips to help get them through the start of the JD. There will be a social launch night for the program early in semester 1.

Opening of the Legal Year

Date: Feb 1 2010

You are invited to this annual secular public event, a community ceremony which brings together a broad cross-section of our community in order to mark the beginning of the legal year. This will include the legal profession as well as welfare groups, women’s groups, charitable groups, politicians, academics, students, legal aid groups, indigenous groups, ethnic groups, advocacy groups and religious groups.

Community Legal Centre Graduate Scheme commences

Applications are now open for the Community Legal Centre Graduate Scheme for 2011.  This innovative program, offered by the Federation of Community Legal Centres, will provide a unique training and employment opportunity for a recent graduate to enter the community legal sector.  The program includes payment of PLT course and Practicing Certificate fees, and a twelve month post-admission employment rotation through three Community Legal Centres.   The Scheme is funded through a Legal Services Board Grant.
