In July this year, ALSA will be holding its annual conference in Melbourne. As part of this event, there will be a series of national competitions running. We are looking for students to represent Melbourne Law School in the following competitions:

Comcare has opened applications for its 2012 graduate program intake. Please see their website for further information regarding the position and application process.
Internship Opportunity at the NSW Law Reform Commission
The NSW Law Reform Commission operates a summer internship program for law students in, or entering, their final year of study. This unpaid internship based in Sydney provides students access to a range of professional development opportunities, including working with the Commissioners. Please see the flyer and also the website for further information about the program. Applications close Friday 30 September 2011.
The Aurora Project - Legal Internship
The Aurora Native Title Internship Program places law students and graduates at Native Title Representative Bodies (NTRBs) and other organisations involved in policy development, social justice and Indigenous affairs. The program introduces candidates to career opportunities in native title and Indigenous affairs and at the same time provides assistance to under-resourced and over-worked organisations.
The application for the summer 2011/2012 round of intenships is from Monday 8 August through to Friday 2 September. Applications can be submitted via the Aurora website of www.auroraproject.com.au.

OPP Legal Traineeships 2012
The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) Legal Traineeship Program offers law graduates a unique opportunity to experience diverse and challenging work that will provide the basis for a rewarding legal career.
Over 12 months legal trainees rotate through the organisation, gaining experience in a broad range of legal practice areas and responsibilities, including preparing legal advice and indictments, and instructing Crown Prosecutors and external counsel.
Applications for the 2012 Legal Traineeship Program close at midnight on Sunday 14 August 2011.
Your application will consist of three components:
- your curriculum vitae,
- a certified extract of your academic record, and
- a covering letter, including written responses to the following two questions.

Interested in being involved in a committee but don't feel like running in an election? Want to be involved in the biggest law student event to be held in Melbourne in 2012?
What is it?
In July 2012, more than 600 law students from around Australia and overseas will descend on Melbourne for 7 days to partake in ALSA Conference. There will be events, the National Championships for Mooting, Witness Exam, Negotiation, Paper Presentation, Client Interview and IHL Moot, Legal Education Forums, workshops, council meetings and much much more!
Who are we looking for?
We are after passionate, well organised law students from all law schools in Victoria to get involved. Roles available will range from organising events to producing magazines and guides, organising the education forums and competitions or being part of the logistics or finance teams. Time commitments will vary significantly between roles.

Applications for 3 co-opt positions on the LSS committee are now available! The LSS is looking for the following positions:
1) Competitions Officer
2) Activities Officer
3) Careers Officer
The Competitions Officer will be responsible for organising a competition. The Activities and Careers Officer will primarily assist their portfolio directors.
Nominations CLOSE on WEDNESDAY 23 MARCH at 12PM (NOT Thursday 24 March as advertised in the LSS Newsletter).

At the first committee meeting of the new MULSS term, several important motions were carried regarding co-opt positions and the process used to bring the co-opts on board the LSS team.
