STS Property tutorial cancelled (Week 7)

Richmond is still quite ill so he won't make it to the Property tute today. He has promised to do a 2-hour catch up during the break.

Unfortunately, Richmond is unwell and will not be able to take the STS Property Tutorial this Tuesday (Week 6). Stay tuned for a catch-up lesson in SWOTVAC.

All other STS tutorials are running as usual.

Semester 2 STS Tutors Wanted!

Are you looking for a part time job?
Did you do well in and really enjoy a law subject?
Do you possess the skills to teach it?

If you answered yes to all of these questions then we have a job for you! The LSS is now accepting applications for the Student Tutorial Service. We need tutors in the following JD subjects:

To apply please email your resume, covering letter and academic transcript (unofficial is fine) to lss-education@unimelb.edu.au. Applications close on Friday 5 August 2011 at 5pm. Interviews will be held between Tuesday 9th August and Friday 12th August.

LSS Sports Week

As part of the Mental Health Subcommittee’s initiatives for 2011, we will be holding a SPORTS WEEK in Week 2 (Tues 2 August – Fri 5 August) to promote healthy body and souls! We have an action-packed and fun week lined up for all law students!

Further details TBC, but this is the general outline for the week. Final details will gradually be updated on this site!
 
Tues 2 Aug at 1-2pm: Healthy BBQ (sponsored by Blake Dawson) with ZUMBA!
Free food and healthy drinks will be provided. Get your lycra out and move your booty for a zumba session with a sassy, professional zumba instructor!

Wed 3 Aug at 1-2pm: Soccer game!
JD v LLB? Law students v Faculty? Guys v Girls? The possibilities are endless!

Mental Health Referral Sheet

At the ‘Success without Stress’ event, students were given a Referral Sheet, which provides details about the University Counselling Service, the Psychology Department clinic and other mental health organisations such as Beyond Blue and the Tristan Jepson Foundation. You can find copies of the Referral Sheet on the racks outside the LSS office on Level 2, or you can find a copy here

Meet The Profession

Melbourne University Law Students Society Careers Directors are pleased to announce we are running our ever popular Meet the Profession cocktail event in 2011. This is a fantastic opportunity to network with representatives from a variety of firms and get the inside scoop on working in a law firm.

It will be held at The Essoign Club (Level 1, 205 William St) on Thursday 19th May between 6:30 and 8:30pm.  

Tickets are limited to 100 and will be on sale from this Monday (2nd May) at the LSS office. The cost will be $20 (bargain).

Mock Interviews 2011

We are pleased to announce that we will once again be running mock interviews.
These interviews are run by HR reps from various firms and provide useful one on one feedback on how to prepare for and conduct yourself in a clerkship interview and invaluable for any student considering applying for a seasonal clerkship.
They will be run following selected seasonal clerkship seminar 2nd-5th May, 9th-12th May, between 2.30-3.30pm with interviews lasting approximately 15mins each.  Those participating will be required to bring along their resume for the interviewer to look at as well.
