Seasonal Clerkship Seminars & Mock Interviews

In conjunction with the release of the Seasonal Clerkship Guide, a series of seminars will be conducted featuring presentations by law firm representatives as to what they are looking for when they rummage through hundreds of applications. They will provide you with useful tips about the skills needed to maximise your chances of a successful application as well as insight into each firm’s focus areas and culture. We will also hold mock interviews between students and firm representatives to allow for constructive feedback and a feel for the type of questions asked in a real interview.

These seminars are free and open to all law students and will be conducted during lunchtimes. We encourage anyone considering taking a seasonal clerkship to attend.

Witness Examination Grand Final - This Thursday!

When: Thursday 17 September
Time: 6:30pm
Where: Federal Court

Come join us this Thursday evening at the final of the largest and most challenging competition offered by Melbourne University Law Students’ Society, judged by the esteemed Justice Gordon.

A pool of almost 200 competitors has been whittled down to just four. Julian Lacota and Brendan Law will act as prosecution, with Frankey Chung and Simin Ngan as defence.

What’s that I hear you ask? Does one need to understand obscure points of law about mushrooms in order to make sense of what's going on? I'm glad you asked that question. Actually, Witness Exam tests advocacy skills rather than legal research. Remember all the tv shows which made you want to do law in the first place? That’s what Witness Exam is all about.

The competition will kick off at 6:30pm. Food and Drinks will be provided afterwards at The Mint.

Sign up for Witness and Mooting 2009!

Remember to submit your sign up forms for Mooting and Witness Examination by Friday 13 March! Late entries will not be accepted. You can pick up a sign-up sheet from Level 2 of the Law School, or download it from the Competitions Overview page.

Demonstrations of Mooting and Witness Examination will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Mooting Demo:
Date: Tues 10 March
Time: 1–2pm
Room: 102 Melbourne Law School

Witness Demo:
Date: Wed 11 March
Time: 1–2pm
Room: 109 Melbourne Law School

Witness Examination

Overview

Thank you for considering participating in the 2010 MULSS Witness Examination Competition. If you can think (reasonably) fast on your feet, enjoy interrogating your friends and don’t want to be buried under legal research, then this competition is for you!
