LSS International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot
IHL Moot Officer
To be announced
About the Competition
Looking for something different? International Humanitarian Law Moot presents students with a unique opportunity to experience such a difference. This competition allows students to use their legal skills to argue common human rights issues.
The IHL differs from other traditional mooting competitions because the same problem is used per round and there are no eliminations in the first 2 rounds so teams will have the opportunity to practice their legal skills over a couple of rounds. Teams must also prepare a written submission for the judge in addition to making oral submissions.
It is not necessary to have studied International Humanitarian Law to do this competition but statutory interpretation skills will be needed in interpreting the Geneva Convention.
I strongly encourage that you all apply and give it a shot - if you never give it a go, you’ll leave law school wondering what it would have been like.
