The Letter of Advice competition provides competitors with first hand exposure to the skills most often required of solicitors. This competition provides a great opportunity for competitors to refine their letter writing skills in order to best prepare them for a career in the legal profession.
Competitors are required to write a Letter of Advice to a client between 800 and 1,200 words. The letter should be addressed to the client, state the basic facts of the case and the instructions given from the client, explain the relevant law and apply the law according to the facts given. Finally, the letter should conclude by providing suggestions to the client based on their instructions. The ability to accurately follow the instructions of the client whilst providing concise advice based on common sense is the key to this competition.
This competition will take place in second semester.
