JD Rep

Melbourne Law School finally has a full complement of JD year groups, and as the numbers swell, the demands and expectations grow.

Subjects are being tailored specifically for the new graduate cohort. Refinements are ongoing. It's exciting and challenging, but at the same time can be very confusing. LLB cohorts don't necessarily appreciate the range of concerns that affect JDs, while JDs may not stop to consider that they are not the only students to whom student organisations, like the LSS, must cater.

The aim with the JD Representative is to present a unified 2nd and 3rd year JD message to the LSS, and to make sure an appropriately delicious number of events are held to celebrate, encourage and support the ultimate and penultimate year JDs. The role of the JD Representative on the Committee is to ensure that the JD voice is heard, and that both graduate and undergraduate concerns are taken into account at all points throughout the committee process.

The filter that the JD Rep provides is also a great way to provide anonymised feedback on how you feel Melbourne Law School (both academic and administrative staff) is running the program, and how improvements could be made to the student experience.

If you have any queries about the JD program, later years in the JD, the LSS, contacting academic staff for assistance or suddenly have a freakout about upcoming exams and the immense amount of pressure you're under, I'm happy to help and point you in the right direction. Feel free to email me with any concerns, questions or suggestions at lss-jd@unimelb.edu.au
