1.1. Corrs Chambers Westgarth 2008 Law Ball – tickets still available!
This year we have aimed to increase the amount of law students who can attend Law Ball by significantly lowering the cost of tickets and increasing the amount of tickets available. As a result, after week one of sales we have a small number of tickets remaining for what will no doubt be an amazing night! As such:
INDIVIDUAL TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE AT BOTH $86 (no after party) and $96 (inc after party)
TO SECURE YOUR TICKETS SIMPLY EMAIL lss-activities@unimelb.edu.au
This will rock.
We strongly encourage you to come along and socialise with the many diverse, cool, interesting and attractive people within the Law School. Now that we have been able to open up individual ticket sales, no matter how many people you can get together you can attend Law Ball.
The details for the night are:
When: 24th April, 7pm – 11pm
Where: Shed 14, 161 Harbour Esplanade, Docklands, VIC 3008
Dress code: Formal
AfterParty: From 11pm onwards the AfterParty is at Watermark (800 Bourke St, The Promenade, Victoria Harbour, Docklands 3008) and has exclusive access, $5 shots, 2 separate dance-floors and an outside area.
Ticketing details: All tickets must be booked in tables, not individual tickets/seats.
Majority of tickets cost $96 (including after party)
There is a very limited amount of special edition $86 tickets (no after party), (on a first-in-first-served basis)
Spirits: can be pre-purchased in the form of tokens which can be redeemed on the night. These tokens can be purchased for $2 each at the time of purchase of Law Ball tickets to a maximum of 5 per person.
Song selection: Upon booking a table one song request per table for the night may be placed. It is not guaranteed that the requested song will be played due to the large amount of tables.

1.2 LSS Survey
We are currently running an LSS Survey to find out what people think about and want from the LSS.
Please let us know what you love and what you hate, what you like and dislike, what you want more of and what you want less of in the inaugural LSS Survey.
The survey can be found at http://www.mulss.com/survey/survey.php.
The survey is completely anonymous and confidential.
Further, upon completing the survey, you can submit you student number and after the survey closes, one lucky student will be randomly selected to win a $50 Book voucher!
The survey is only open until Friday 25th April
We really value feedback and strongly encourage you to take the very few minutes that it would take you to complete the survey!

1.4 Winners of Book Voucher for Student Guidebook
Earlier in the year, we ran a competition in which we invited students to submit articles for the Law Students' Guidebook. Those that submitted articles were entered into a draw to win a $50 University Bookshop voucher. We have now drawn the winners and they are:
1. Nadia Harrison
2. Sarah Purcell
3. Jenny Jiang
Winners are asked to come to the LSS office on level 2 of the Law building to collect their book vouchers. Winner have 30 days to collect their vouchers before it is given to another student who submitted an article.
Congratulations to these students and thanks to all who submitted articles. It helped make the guidebook what it is (you can collect your copy from the LSS office as well).
Cheers

1.7. Academic/Law School complaints/feedback
If you have any concerns or complaints about anything in the Law School, feel free to let me know. With regards to any concerns that are procedural, academic or otherwise, if for any reason you feel unable or uncomfortable to raise the matter through faculty, please do not hesitate to email me about it at this address. The LSS is the representative body for students on many committees throughout the Law School, and the more student feedback that we can provide to those meetings, the better.

1.8. Women’s Mentoring Program
The Striving for Success: Women’s Mentoring Program is designed to create networks between University of Melbourne law students and women in the legal profession.
The program is flexible and it is dependent on the mentor and mentee to arrange details such as when and where to meet. Past examples of the program have included meeting for coffees and lunches, work experience, “shadowing” a lawyer in court and creating connections through general
communication via email or the telephone.
Places are limited. In 2007, due to high demand for mentors, not all law students were awarded a place in the program and precedence was given to later year law students.
To be considered for selection, please complete this form and hand it in at the LSS Office on Level 2.
For more information on the program, please email: lss-womens@unimelb.edu.au .
