Australian Prisoner Foundation Competition

The Australian Prison Foundation’s major national campaign for 2009 focuses on prisoner library services. The foundation will be producing posters and brochures for both prisoners and corrections staff on the importance of reading skills and access to library services. Information brochures for prisoners will focus on promoting libraries as a great place to relax and enjoy life, a place to learn and access new skills, and a way to keep in touch with the ‘outside’ and family through library services. Information brochures for corrections staff will focus on why prisoner literacy is so important to gaining employment and learning new life skills, how to help and encourage prisoners to access the library and supporting personal learning and growth through library services. The posters and brochures will be distributed within prisons and prisoner support organisations around Australia, as well as through our website. To create these resources we are running a competition—so we need your help!
