Corrs Chambers Westgarth Law Ball 2010
Ladies and gentlemen,
The time has come to dust off your best suits and gowns. Law Ball 2010 is only 3 weeks away (Thurs 6 May)! Prepare yourself for the culinary and auditory experience of a lifetime - not to mention the open bar.
Law Ball 2010 promises to be bigger and better than ever before!!
Dressed in your fine attire, and accompanied by all those special people in your life (or perhaps just those you can be arsed talking to in lectures) you will find yourself dining and drinking at the stylish Atlantic Function Centre, overlooking the water at Central Pier.
Thought that was AMAZING!? Well wait, there's more...
Following this, you will be able to dance the night (and your law school blues) away to the tune of Feenixpawl DJs. These guys are NOT TO BE MISSED - they've appeared at Stereosonic, V Fest, We Love Sounds and Kiss My Grass, so their presence is a MASSIVE coup!!
But don't think the ecstasy that is LAW BALL 2010 will be restricted to the confines of the Atlantic Function Centre. From 12 onwards the party will move to a club (TBA) in the near vicinity of Atlantic. There, you will be treated to express entry (free with presentation of your Law Ball ticket), and drink specials all night long (incl. beer, spirits, a mystery shot, and *fingers crossed* other specials).
All this, and for the more than reasonable price of $99pp.
SO, HOW DO I GET A TICKET?
Tickets go on sale THIS THURSDAY (22nd April) from 1pm. There will be a table outside the LSS office that will handle all ticket sales.
Each table at this year's Ball will seat 10 people. So when you come to buy tix, come prepared with the special dietary requirements (if applicable) of those you plan to have at your table, as well as a minimum $200 deposit with the full amount due the following Thursday 29th April.
There are only 55 tables available at this year's ball and each year tickets sell out fast, so it's advised that you line up as soon as you can before 1pm.
If you have ANY questions, feel free to contact me at lss-activities@unimelb.edu.au
AWESOME! Can't wait to see you all there!!
EQUITY SUBSIDIES
In order to make law ball more generally accessible, this year the LSS is offering means-based subsidised tickets for people who satisfy the following criteria:
a) You have a Low Income Healthcare Card (issued by Centrelink), or
b) You are a successful applicant of the LSS Living Book Scheme Program 2010
The first 40 students who meet these criteria will be eligible for their law ball ticket to be subsidised by 50%, so make sure you reserve a subsidised ticket as early as possible if you want to secure a subsidy.
If you satisfy the criteria, but you are unavailable to be in the line to reserve your table, you need give your name, student number and contact details to the person who will be in the line reserving your table, so they can let us know to reserve a subsidised ticket for you.
The subsidy will be applied when the balance for your table’s tickets is paid, not the deposit. In other words, your table will still need to pay min $200 deposit, but the balance payment will be reduced to take into account any subsidised tickets. In order for the balance to be reduced, you will need to personally prove your eligibility by presenting your student ID card and healthcare card (if a) applies to you). You must come to the LSS office to do this before the balance for your table is paid, otherwise your subsidised ticket will be given away. On the evening of law ball, you must bring photo ID along with your ticket to present at the door.
Note that the subsidy is only available for Melbourne Law students. If anybody applies who is not a law student, their reserved ticket will be given away.
Please contact lss-president@unimelb.edu.au with any queries about the subsidy.
