Mindfulness Seminars

The Melbourne Law School in collaboration with the University of Melbourne Counselling Service offers a program of mindfulness workshops specifically for JD and LLB students during Semester 2, 2011.

Mindfulness is form of self-awareness adapted from the Buddhist tradition of meditation. Considerable research has found  mindfulness to have  significant health benefits and to be helpful  in the management of stress, the ability to focus on study and the promotion of coping and wellbeing.

Curious?  An  introductory session will be held to offer an overview and short practice.

Monday 5th  September   1.00 – 2.00 Room  G08

Register online for Mindfulness Introduction:

Those wanting to continue can join in with: Weekly lunchtime practices that will run throughout the semester in the Law Building.   These sessions are free.

Ongoing practices:  Tuesdays 1.00 – 2.00   Room G609

(excluding the weeks of mid semester break)

To read more about the benefits of Mindfulness, pick up a copy of "Good Vibes", the 2011 Health and Wellbeing Guidebook. Copies are available now on Level 2, and soon to be available online.

“The by product of these sessions, in my personal experience, has been a significant increase the length of time I am able to focus and an overall improvement in my ability to handle anxiety provoking situations.  I would recommend the sessions to all law students (and staff!) and hope the law school continues to provide the program, the benefits of which I am sure will resonate rather than dissipate over time.”
