International Students’

Melbourne Law School is known for its diversity and multiculturalism, with international students coming from over 30 countries worldwide, totalling around 15% of the cohort.

The international portfolio aims to assist international students in settling and adapting to life in Australia. It also promotes and facilitates information about career opportunities nationally and internationally, networking events, and academic support.  LSS acknowledges the inherent challenges of being an international student, including cultural barriers, homesickness, and concerns related to visas and job opportunities. As such, the international representative is responsible for ensuring a sense of community and cultural inclusivity at MLS and representing international students’ best interests.

The activities include:

  • Dedicated orientation day for first-year international students before they commence their studies.

  • A variety of panels throughout the year. Those include a graduate international student panel focused on the experiences of MLS alumni and an exclusive clerkship panel for 2nd-year international students and above.

  • The Tandem program, which focuses on connecting first-year international students with mentors from upper-year levels.

For any concerns, inquiries and further information, the International Students’ Representative, Lauren Dressler (she/her), can be contacted through email at international@mulss.com.
