Internship Opportunity at the NSW Law Reform Commission

The NSW Law Reform Commission operates a summer internship program for law students in, or entering, their final year of study. This unpaid internship based in Sydney provides students access to a range of professional development opportunities, including working with the Commissioners. OPP Legal Traineeships 2012

The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) Legal Traineeship Program offers law graduates a unique opportunity to experience diverse and challenging work that will provide the basis for a rewarding legal career.

 

Over 12 months legal trainees rotate through the organisation, gaining experience in a broad range of legal practice areas and responsibilities, including preparing legal advice and indictments, and instructing Crown Prosecutors and external counsel.

 

Applications for the 2012 Legal Traineeship Program close at midnight on Sunday 14 August 2011.

Your application will consist of three components:

  • your curriculum vitae,
  • a certified extract of your academic record, and
  • a covering letter, including written responses to the following two questions.

The Aurora Project - Legal Internship

The Aurora Native Title Internship Program places law students and graduates at Native Title Representative Bodies (NTRBs) and other organisations involved in policy development, social justice and Indigenous affairs. The program introduces candidates to career opportunities in native title and Indigenous affairs and at the same time provides assistance to under-resourced and over-worked organisations.

 

The application for the summer 2011/2012 round of intenships is from Monday 8 August through to Friday 2 September. Applications can be submitted via the Aurora website of www.auroraproject.com.au.

Interview Tips & Tricks - Rescheduled

The Preparing for Work seminar run by the Careers Office, Interview Tips and Tricks to be presented by Tiffany Rogers from Allens Arthur Robinson has had to be postponed.

It has been rescheduled for next Tuesday 9 August from 1-2pm in GM17.

While the main focus of this session is on interview skills, Tiffany will provide some information on written applications as well – and she will be able to answer general questions about your clerkship applications.

Mallesons Insight Program

As the name suggests, the Insight program will give you a high level overview of how Mallesons is structured, what areas of law they practice and the type of clients they work with.

You will also get an in-depth look at particular matters in the firm and a chance to listen to some of their staff talk about their experiences as legal professionals, including undertaking further study, working in one of their off shore offices and going on a client secondment.

The Insight program is aimed at law students who are not yet able to apply for a summer clerkship i.e. 3rd year LLB or 1st year JD. However, if you are eligible for a clerkship this year but are unable to participate (e.g. overseas exchange), and would like to participate in Insight please contact Mallesons.
